Kevin
Thorne, Ph.D. is the Director of Scientific Affairs at Spinal
Restoration. Dr. Thorne was formerly Manager and Principle Engineer,
Biomaterials Research and Development for Zimmer Biologics where he was
responsible for the development and commercialization of novel materials
for stimulating biologically induced bone repair. Prior to joining
Zimmer Biologics in 1999, Dr. Thorne was Assistant Professor in the
Department of Biomedical Engineering and Co-Director of the Division of
Biomaterials and Technology at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Dr. Thorne brings more than twelve years of biomaterials research and development experience from both academic and commercial institutions. He is widely published and speaks regularly on the advances in biologic biomaterials. He is an award wining researcher and holds four patents in the area of biomaterials science. He has served on the National Institutes for Health Technical and Commercial Grant Review Committee since 2000.
Kevin Thorne earned Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degrees in
Materials Science and Engineering from the University of California at
Los Angeles. Dr. Thorne also holds a M.S. in Science and Technology
Commercialization from the University of Texas at Austin.
