Spinal Restoration, Inc. Names Gary E. Sabins as President and CEO
Proven Medical Technology Executive and Entrepreneur Leads Start-up Venture, Builds Management Team
Austin, TX - March 21, 2007
Gary Sabins has been named the president and CEO of Spinal Restoration,
Inc. a privately held, venture backed medical technology company that
specializes in the early intervention of chronic back pain. Spinal
Restoration is focused on developing a new biologic treatment for
discogenic pain, a condition which accounts for approximately 4 million
patients annually that suffers from chronic low back pain. The company’s
first product, the Biostat™ Disc Augmentation System, will be the
subject of an IDE clinical trial expected to begin in early 2008.
Mr. Sabins has recently been a business consultant and entrepreneur
having launched or assisted several successful companies. Previously,
Mr. Sabins was the President of Sulzer Orthopedics, Inc. a global
medical device company with annual sales in excess of half a billion
dollars. He directed a world wide organization with over 1800 employees.
During his tenure at Sulzer Orthopedics, he grew their revenue from
$80MM to over $650MM during an 8 year period.
Regarding his new role at Spinal Restoration, Sabins commented,

In the coming months, Sabins will continue to build his executive team
and expand the company’s Clinical and Scientific Advisory Boards to
begin the regulatory approval process for the company’s products. Mr.
Sabins is also working to develop and strengthen Spinal Restoration’s
partnerships in key areas such as suppliers, design, development,
manufacturing, clinical research and intellectual property.
